Scott Sherman is a contributing writer of The Nation. He was a contributing writer to Lingua Franca: The Review of Academic Life. From 2001 to 2012 he was contributing editor of the Columbia Journalism Review.
His work has appeared in The New York Review of Books, Vanity Fair, the London Review of Books, the Times Literary Supplement, the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, Newsday, Dissent and other publications.
His book on the New York Public Library, Patience and Fortitude: Power, Real Estate, and the Fight to Save a Public Library, was published in hardcover by Melville House in June 2015 and in paperback in 2017.
For his reporting on the New York Public Library he was given the Blue Ribbon Award for Public Advocacy by Design Observer magazine in 2012 and a citation by the New York Press Club.
